Lindsay Lohan & James Deen hit ‘The Canyons’

One of my favorite authors is Bret Easton Ellis, the way he writes characters is kind of like a new truth exploding onto the page. He takes your deepest, darkest thoughts and brings them to fruition, and the worst part is that it’s not just for shock value. People, unfortunately, really exist who are just like some of his more terrible characters. However, his stuff is funny, legitimately there’s some really great laughs throughout, even though the subject matter is sometimes teetering on frightening. Anyway, Bret has paired up with genius film Director and writer, Paul Schrader. They put a minimum budget for a film called The Canyons on Kickstarter and are raising the funds themselves to bring the film to the big screen. News broke via Bret’s Twitter page that Lindsay Lohan has signed on for the female lead, Tara. Joining her is the MAN, porn star James Deen as Christian. I was lucky enough to check out the script, and it’s rough… by rough, I mean intense. I recently found out I could have auditioned for a role via the web and I flaked, like an idiot, but that’s OK, one day I’ll work with Bret for sure! This is definitely a different role than we’ve ever seen Lindsay play, honestly I think she’ll kill it. I wonder if she’ll do the nudity, or if she’ll double it? She’s require for lots of sex in this one Ladies and Gents… bring it on! If you get to work with either Paul or Bret, you’re in a great position. Both these men created characters that launched both Richard Gere & Christian Bale in superstardom, so congratulations to the two for getting this part. And huge shout out to Bret & Paul (and producer Braxton Pope) who chose to do this independently via KickStarter, I applaud your creativity and your support of indie-filmmaking! I’m angry I’m not starring, but happy to see what comes of The Canyons!
